TREKKING IN DOLOMITES

From 4 to 8 August 2020

Five days of trekking in the Dolomites through an unprecedented itinerary, among the most beautiful and famous Dolomites.

We will cross the Puez-Odle Natural Park, then climb the huge platform of the Sella Group and finally end our excursion along the walls of the Sassolungo.

The views will cover all the Dolomites, we will be able to admire the most famous peaks from different angles: from Marmolada to Tofane to Catinaccio and many others … As the pride of this trek there is the possibility of walk to a Dolomite peak beyond the 3000 meters of altitude … and what a top! The 3152 meters of Piz Boè, the highest in the Sella Group!

The entire trek has a development of about 50 km divided into five days of excursion. The total height difference is about 3000 meters. The level of difficulty is medium to high.

A certain habit of walking in the mountains is required, even on rather steep and not always easy paths. We require some training to deal with the differences in height and the expected development.

The place of departure and arrival is Santa Cristina di Val gardena, located in the magical Val Gardena.

In detail:

The first step was designed to “warm up”, therefore a little shorter, to allow all participants to reach the starting point in comfort.

We will then leave for the excursion in the early afternoon of Tuesday 4 August, after checking that we have not forgotten anything to put in the backpack!

We will head towards the Puez-Odle Natural Park towards the Firenze refuge, at the foot of the majestic and very famous Odle, where we will spend the night.

On the second day we will climb for a couple of hours up to 2600 meters and then make a very pleasant long crossing along the Puez group. We will pass the Puez refuge and continue towards the Gardena Pass where we will spend the night.

The third step involves heading south, to enter the heart of the Sella Group through the Val di Mezdì. This is the stage with the biggest difference in altitude, about 900 meters to reach the Boè refuge, but for those who want there is the possibility of making a last hour of effort to reach more than 3000 meters! and touch the summit of Piz Boè at 3152 meters!

From the Boè refuge, for the fourth step, we will descend towards the Passo Sella towards Canazei and then go up towards the Passo Sella under the imposing walls of the Sassolungo. We will spend the night in a refuge near the pass.

The last day of the walk includes the gentle crossing of the slopes at the foot of the Sasso Lungo and then gradually descends towards Santa Cristina, our starting point which we will reach in the early afternoon.
